OnTheLeft.org and its owners ("the site") is a privately owned discussion and debate forum. You must understand, acknowledge and agree with all of the terms and conditions stated herein prior to registering.

1. Prohibited Uses. You may not use this site to attack other software or hardware. In addition, you may not use or promote trojan horses, MySQL, hacking, phising, squeezing, phreaking, or any system or software that may damage, threaten or burden our forum, server, or software.

2. Liability. Your actions are your own and the site disclaims all liability regarding from them, particularly any damages that you may cause, either directly or indirectly from its use, operation, or existence, or from the lack thereof of these things. Our forum uses technology that is licensed from Invision Power Services (Invision), and nether the site nor Invision shall be liable for your use of its forum technology.

3. Suspensions, Restrictions, and Bannings. This is a privately-owned forum. The site reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or ban any member without notice if we feel it is in the best interest of the site and/or its online community. If we ban you and you attempt to circumvent our decision, we may consider this a form of unauthorized trespass. We may also forward your information to law enforcement, possibly without notifying you. If we suspend you or restrict your posting privileges and you attempt to circumvent these measures, you will be permanently banned from this forum.

4. Postings. The site makes this discussion forum available to its users. Any information that is presented in these areas becomes public. The site warns you to exercise caution when disclosing your personal or professional thoughts and/or information. Posts and any other forms of submission by users express the views of the message author, and not the views of the site. The same applies to any private information you place on the forum; if such information becomes public for any reason -- including, but not limited to, operator error, malice on the part of other users, or server problems -- the site disclaims any liability.

5. Copyright. You may NOT submit/post any writing, pictures or any other information on our forum that would violate the intellectual property rights of a third party. It is your responsibility to post works that are not in violation of any intellectual property laws. The site will not be responsible for infringements you make, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

6. Code of Conduct. You must abide by our Code of Conduct:

A. Adhere to Forum Designations. There are certain areas of the board that allow participation from both liberals and non-liberals. However, the "Liberals-Only" area is reserved for liberals who already agree on basic principles and philosophy. Non-liberals are not permitted to participate in areas designated for liberals only. Newly registered users are put in the "centrist" category, which have limited access. Posters should send a Personal Message (PM) to one of the Administrators in order to be moved into either the Liberal or other category in order to gain better forum access.

B. Decorum. Don't post just to get people riled up. Don't disrupt the purpose of the forum, which is to foster genuine, and where possible, constructive dialogue between people of opposing ideologies. Attacking your opponent personally is inappropriate. Criticizing aspects of people that are beyond their control (such as their race, gender, disabilities, sexual orientation, economic status, etc.) is unacceptable.
In addition, please note the following policies:
1. Flaming and Trolling. Do not post to anger, incite, insult, or inflame other members. Continued and/or excessive hatred, vulgarity and rudeness is unacceptable outside of our Thunderdome forum. Flaming directed at a moderator or administrator will be met with swift and strict action in all areas of the forum.

2. Excessive Profanity. While you may use occasional profanity for emphasis or as an exclamation, you may not use excessive profanity in your posts. The administrators and/or moderators have the discretion to determine what they consider to be excessive profanity use.

3. Misrepresentation. Post with sincerity. Do not intentionally post sources you know to be inaccurate or misleading. If you present information that directly contradicts something you have said earlier, please be prepared to justify the change of information.

4. Identity. Do not pretend to be another user/member or by creating a username similar to an active member in an effort to harass or annoy others.

5. Adult or "Obscene" Material. Pornographic material is strictly prohibited. You may not post or link to any adult and/or obscene material. Also, if sharing a link containing disturbing photographs (e.g., abortion pictures, dead people, war atrocities), please use a link instead of posting the actual pictures and post a warning so that people following that link will know what to expect.

Please keep in mind that while this forum is privately-owned, its membership is public and a minor may be viewing your posts. While we will attempt to police our own forums, posters are ultimately the ones legally responsible for any laws they may break by their posts.

6. Spam. Do not post messages that promote products or services. It is considered spam and will be deleted. We also withhold the right to instantly ban anyone posting spam in our forum.

7. Posts and Threads. The site reserves the right to remove, edit, modify, or move any forum posting that its administrators or moderators consider inappropriate. Our decision regarding what we delete will be completely subjective. In addition, we may edit, modify, or move your posts/threads at our sole discretion and at any time without notice to you.

8. Modification of Terms. We withhold the right to change or modify these terms at any time without notice. It is your responsibility to check back and review these terms if you have any questions.
